Having problems with your 1999 Volkswagen Beetle ?

1999 VW Beetle with new motor that has 20,000 miles on it. My temp gauge light keeps coming on, what could be the problem? I have checked the radiator, oil both are fine.

The beetles have a problem with the water pump, the plastic impeller breaks up and causes the coolant not to circulate
