1998 Buick Park - gas gauge gone fully clockwise to rest UNDER the fixed stop pin

\015 I had my car in for a supercharger belt change and some pulleys. In the course of the repair the machanic had to remove my battery. Now the gas gauge needle has gone fully clockwise to stop UNDER the fixed stop pin. Turning the car off and on has not changed the problem ? The mechanic doesn't know what caused it ??? Any ideas?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 14-10-2019

Answers :

We use a magnet wrapped in a soft cloth [so as not to scratch the dash] to turn the needle completely around again. No special tool needed
The magnet trick works. You just need a stong magnet, wrap in cloth (as mentioned above). and play around with it as close to the needle as possible and you will see it begin to turn.
