Having problems with your 2000 Daewoo Lanos ?

Is this rumbling wheel bearings or transmission?

\015 My girlfriend's Daewoo Lanos has a rumbling that is steadily getting louder (now VERY loud). Her mechanic says its the transmission. To me it sounds like wheel bearings: it always gets much louder when you turn away from the wheel in question; it doesn't change in pitch or loudness whether in neutral, coasting, or under load, or even when the ignition is off.\015\012\015\012Could a transmission noise get louder like that when you turn the steering wheel? Also, could this be CV joints? Thanks for any help!\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 19-08-2019

Answers :

If the sound is all the time, no matter what you are doing then it is the Transmission going bad. CV Joints, Wheel bearing will only make the noise when in rotation.. Also remember that this is a front wheel drive car, so it will throw you off thinking it is the wheel bearings or CV joints due to the front wheel drive
