Having problems with your 2000 Dodge Neon ?

New valve cover gaskets, plugs, and wire result in engine light...

\015 Hi everyone.hoping you can help clear this up for me.2000 neon. I repaced my gfs valve cover gaskets as well as the gaskets for the spark plug tubes, all the bolts and i changed the spark plugs and wires. There was oil around 3 of the 4 spark plugs. \015\012Now after i was done there was a lot of white smoke,i assumed this was from blowing out the sparkplug tubes to get the oil out. After it bit it cleared up. Now heres the thing. the engine light was on,i put everything back together right.so i took it to partsource where he read the code.i cant remember what it said exactly but it was like a misfire in cylinder or plug B. something like that.but the car ran great.so we tried all the plugs and wires and no difference. So he cleared the code and said it will be fine if it doesnt pop up again. So far it hasnt and the car runs great. But i would really like to know what could have caused the code and if there could be anything i missed.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 22-04-2019

Answers :

If you removed spark plugs with oil around them, oil would have got into cylinders and made new plugs wet and not fire properly..it just burnt off oil and started working ok..it set a misfire code because of this most likely
