Having problems with your 2000 Ford F250 Super Duty Crew Cabs ?

Losing power while towing in hot weather 2000 f 250 triton v-8 gradually all power was cut out and i parked it.after an hour she ran fine.is this some sort of self preservation system?

Yes, it could be going into 'limp mode' due to a problem so components won't be damaged. Did the check engine light go on? Even if it didn't, I would scan for codes (free service at parts stores) to see if any are stored in the F-250's computer. That could be the info you need to figure out what was wrong.
