Having problems with your 2000 Hyundai Sonata ?

Turn ignition to crank and nothing happens??

\015 I recently bought a 2000 sonata with the 4 cylinder engine and the car has 112xxx miles on it as of date. About 110xxx miles i tried to start the car and turned the ignition to the crank position but nothing would happen. I attempted this 3-4 times and then car turned over and was fine. Then, about 2 weeks ago it did the same thing, outside temp was in the 20's F, and i thought it was the battery so i jumped it and it turned over. Now, yesterday, the temp was about -20 F but the car turned over fine in the morning and when i tried again about 4 hours later it wouldnt crank over. The climate control fan would turn off when in crank position and i could hear a small "humm" but the engine wouldnt turn over. This time it lasted the whole day. I went out the next afternoon and tried it and it started right up. I have replaced the battery with a 825cca new battery and it didnt solve the problem. Could the starter be bad? I thought if a starter went bad it went bad, not that it would function intermittently. Anyways, any info would be greatly apprichiated. Thankx.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 06-07-2020

Find the starter or ignition relay and replace it... generally either on the fuse panel inside the car or the fuse panel located in the engine compartment.
