Having problems with your 2000 Mazda B-Series ?

The rpm fluctuates at idle

\015 Hi, I have a Mazda car bj5p model, (like 323, 2001), The rpm fluctuates at idle and when I take my foot off the accelerator paddle. Sometimes the rpm goes down to about 200 and the engine almost stops and there is big vibration in the silencer area when this occur. At this time, even if I press the accelerator paddle, the engine does not raise. It comes back to normal after some time. Is this a sensor problem or something else?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 25-06-2018

It could be several things...low fuel pressure, a lazy 0 2 sensor, and even an IAC. If there isn't any service engine lights coming on, you will need a qualified tech to do the test since a lazy 0 2 sensor has to be looked at with some type of a volts meter and a scanner has the capability of doing a better job yet since you wouldn't have to get underneath the vehicle. Don't be fooled into thinking that it is just one thing; it could be several depending on the mileage.
It sounds like a failed 'idle air control.'\015\012Your computer may be monitoring engine conditions so having it scanned at one of the chain auto parts stores may identify the problem.\015\012The scanning is (in my experience) free of charge but call first to confirm this.
