Having problems with your 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse ?

I need to replace the liftgate gas springs on my 2000 eclipse GT

\015 There seemed to be a nut or clip behind the body frame that fell off when I removed the old springs. Now there is nothing to screw the new springs into, just an unthreaded hole in the body frame.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 02-12-2019

Answers :

You'll need to remove the interior quarter panels (upper and lower) and remove the seat belt housing. Using a small telescopic magnet, you can retrieve the nut that has fallen. Drill a half inch opening on the indentation just underneath the hole. Using the magnet, position the nut so you can screw in the lift support screw. Once you start to thread, apply tension against the nut by pulling on the lift support and turning the torx screw at the same time.
