Having problems with your 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport ?

Changed water pump & timing belt last night. Car ran fine at idle and test drive. Wife went on errands this morning and after the last stop. Car would not re-start. Could the timing belt skip a tooth rendering the engine to not re-start? The engine turns over smoothly about three revolutions, then acts rough, then smooth again. The "check engine" light is not illuminated but, I did do a diagnostic (OBD II) test with no errors to report. I also checked the fuses in the cockpit and engine bay all

Answers :

Just a thought that the belt could slip if the tensioner did not locate properly. Seems too coincidental that it is not related to the timing belt.
