Having problems with your 2000 Volkswagen Jetta TDI ?

Need advice on changing a battery on a 2000 VW jetta

\015 I want to make sure that it is safe to completely disconnect the battery, and that it won't do anything to the car's computer, or airbags, etc. Also need detailed instructions on how to change it. Thanks\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 19-11-2018

I change the battery on my TDI by undoing the nuts in any order, positive first and then neg, or vice versa. If you happen to have a long wrench that can connect terminals, be very careful not to touch the other one, undo the neg first then. When you work on the positive pole do not touch any metal parts of the body, if you have not released the neg yet, otherwise you will see fireworks with the following fuse replacement.
\015\012When the batteyr is disconnected from the terminals the radio code will be lost. If you don't know your original radio code, you will have to go to the dealer and pay $105 for the code. Without that code the the radio will not work unless you have installed other than VW CD player
