\015 The battery died in my 2001 TT convertable. I think I remember the code, but can't remember the button sequence to unlock it. Also, if I do not remember the code, is there a way to get it?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 18-06-2018

Answers :

Try one of the two procedures below, depending on the factory stereo system mounted on your model (2001 TT had two different choices)

The first proceedure is for an audi concert style system.
It is a small din system & the stereo looks rectangular in shape.
The\015\012following is the procedure to re-activate the radio if the display\015\012shows "SAFE". It is important that the procedure be followed in the\015\012correct order.
\015\012
    \015\012
  1. Turn on radio. The radio display shows "SAFE".
  2. \015\012
  3. Press\015\012the FM2 and RDS buttons simultaneously and hold until "1000" shows on\015\012the display. Release the buttons. Do NOT press these buttons again,\015\012otherwise the radio will consider "1000" to be the code.
  4. \015\012
  5. Use\015\012Preset buttons 1 ... 4 to enter the four-digit code number from your\015\012radio card. Preset button 1 corresponds to the first digit, Preset\015\012button 2 corresponds to the second digit, etc. Each press of the button\015\012increments the number by 1.
  6. \015\012
  7. Once the code shown on the\015\012display is correct, press the FM2 and RDS buttons simultaneously and\015\012hold until the word "SAFE" appears in the display, then release the\015\012buttons.
  8. \015\012
  9. The radio should unlock and be usable shortly afterwards.
  10. \015\012
  11. If\015\012an incorrect code is entered, the word "SAFE" appears, first flashing\015\012and then continuously. You can repeat the above steps to unlock the\015\012radio once more, the number of attempts will be shown in the display.\015\012If an incorrect code is entered again, you radio will be locked for\015\012about one hour. After one hour - the radio must stay on and the key\015\012must remain in the ignition lock\015\012- if the display goes out, the you can repeat the above procedure to\015\012unlock again. The cycle - two attempts, one hour lock-up - still\015\012applies.
  12. \015\012
  13. If you lose your radio code, contact your Audi dealer.
Note:\015\012Some European market Concert radios have a TP button instead of the FM2\015\012button, so the description above with those units would require\015\012pressing the TP and the RDS buttons simultaneously.
This second proceedure is for an audi symphony system
It is a large din. The radio looks like a square.
