Having problems with your 2001 Chevrolet Blazer ?

When it's colder outside and I start my Blazer, there is a constant ticking noise that comes from the engine area. Once the truck warms up, the ticking goes away (after 5 minutes or so) but when you press the gas pedal, the speed of the noise gets faster. I went to have this checked about a year ago and I was told it could be the lifters, but they said that's something that can't be fixed. Does this sound like anything familiar to anyone?
