Having problems with your 2001 Chevrolet Silverado ?

LIFTER TAP AT START UP

\015 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO 155K.AT COLD STARTUP THE ENGINE HAS A LIFTER TAP.IT STARTED OUT JUST A SLIGHT TAP,NOW IT'S GETTING WORSE.MY BUDDIES 99 GMC DID THE EXACT SAME THING AND IT GOT SO BAD THAT IT FINALLY BENT A PUSHROD.IT SEEMS THAT ALL OF THE 5.3 GM'S ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM.THE MORE I RESEARCH THIS THE MORE NEGATIVE INFO I AM RECIEVING.DOES ANYONE KNOW IF GM HAS A RECALL ON THE VALVETRAIN?AND IF NOT WE 5.3 OWNERS SHOULD ALL MAKE THEM START ONE!\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 24-02-2020

I have a 2001 silverado 4.3 and mine did the same thing. turns out the intake manifold gasket was leaking coolant into the oil. try disconnecting the main hose from the radiator and pouring a bottle of bars leak with the pellets in there. it worked great for me has not tapped again.
