Having problems with your 2001 Chevrolet Venture ?

When you turn the ignition to start it, it just clicks once and the interior lights blink for a few seconds. Also there is a static type sound in the steering column. what could be the cause?

It sounds like your battery is weak. First check your battery cables, especially the positive (if its the original the positive terminal may be severely corroded). heck to ensure they are tight. Disconnect the cables and visually check for corrosion. Remove the negative cable first. If they look ok, and the vehicle will start with a boost, you probably still have a bad battery, get it tested. You could have a bad alternator not charging the battery enough, have that tested as well. If battery and alternator are good, but it still clicks occasionally and won't start, you will probably need an starter. The lights and noise are secondary results from having a weak battery.
