Having problems with your 2001 Dodge Caravan ?

I was driving on interstate it made a loud chunk noise but kept driving. when i got off at my exit and went to turn the engine accelerated but it wouldnt move in any gear. I turned the van off then on and it went. It slipped out of gear within a mile but I made it home. Any chance the trans not out?

Answers :

Sorry to say I believe it to be your transmission judging from your explanation. (I am guessing it is an automatic) If not - if standard it may be something else. If it is automatic - pull out the transmission dip stick and see if it smells burnt - a sure sign of burnt clutches. Let me know.
