Having problems with your 2001 Dodge Neon ?

2001 neon shuts off while driving. will not start at all.it turns over but does not sound as normally would. i have been researching on the web( getting code 0340 camshaft position circuit) and fingers are pointing at crankshaft position sensor...could this be and why would it just fail with no warning?

Answers :

P0340 is camshaft position sensor fault code..if engine sounds funny turning over or faster than it used to be,sounds like you have a broken timing belt..if not, most likely sensor has failed..located on end of cylinder head near battery..small square sensor with4 mounting bolts, and a 3 wire connector..if your timing belt is broken, you more than likely have some engine damage due to valve to piston contact
