Having problems with your 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac ?

I have a 2001 Sport Trac that want start. In the last few months its been idling low and sometimes shuts off when you put it in park. I had lost the key to it last month and finally after the truck had been parked for 5 weeks, got a new key made and started it and drove a few miles and come back and parked it. Went back the next day and it would not start. Engine turns over fine but want start. Truck has 210,000 miles and has run great up til this point.

\015\012It sounds like you may have a problem with the trucks factory security system or the fuel pump is sticking and you have no fuel pressure, with this many miles the only thing to do here is have the system scanned and the fuel pressure tested when it won't start. Ford has a special tool that can scan the electronic systems of the truck and determine if a problem exists in them, if it finds a problem it will set a code, the technician can then have a point to start the repair. As far as the fuel pump causing the problem you can eliminate that by getting a can of spray starting fluid from any auto parts store and when it will not fire up spray the starting fluid into the air intake of the engine, if the engine quickly starts and then does you have a defetive fuel pump. The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank, the fuel tank must be dropped out of the truck to replace it.
