Having problems with your 2001 Ford F150 Styleside SuperCrew ?

Transmission shifter is stuck in 'P' on my 2002 F150 Fx4 Supercrew, why?

\015 I have a 2002 F150 Fx4 Supercrew, 5.4L engine automatic transmission. Yesterday the transmission shifter got stuck in Park.I had the brake pedal down all the way, key engaged and it wouldn't leave the 'P' position. I jiggled and jerked on the keys and the lever and it finally came out of the 'P' position and I was able to drive away. The problem continues to exist. Also, somewhere during the day while jiggling the lever and keys, I must have blown a fuse or something, because my electric windows (all 4) and the interior lighting no longer work. Any clues as to what is going on? \015\012\015\012I just had the same problem with my 2001 F150. I was driving and my wipers suddenly stopped working. When I stopped for a minute to drop someone off I noticed my interior lights and power windows didn't work. Then I found out I couldn't shift out of park. Brake lights are working fine. Had to shut the engine off and then turn the key on part way until the shifter would move from park to neutral. Once in neutral I was able to start it and then shift to drive. Obviously it is an electrical problem but so far I can't see a fuse that covers the wipers, windows, interior lights and brake interlock.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 18-10-2021

You need to check the connection on the front of the master cylinder. This is the brake disengage for the cruise control. If it is wet this is the problem of the short. You need to replace the unit. This was a recall by ford. Now check the #15 fuse (5a) this controls the brake interlock switch. When you put the fuse in you will hear a click. This means you can now take the truck out of park. The lights will come on and the windows will work. If the windows don't work check the other fuses. By pulling them and replacing them made the windows work for me.
There is a switch on the brake pedal that will need the contacts cleaned with a piece of sand paper to get you by until you get a replacement switch for it. check to see if your brake lights are working before you do this though.
