Having problems with your 2001 Ford Windstar ?

Transmission repair?worth it? 3000$ Lots of metall chips of the bottom of the oilpan! The car is driving on flat surface, and ( for exampel) between 80-90 km/h the gears are shifting often, up and down, same speed,and it doesn't sounds smooth!

The $3000 price tag is a bit high, but it sounds like it is time you change the transmission.

Please shop around for someone else. Go to 3 or 4 shops or check online as you could end up saving a ton.

a simple check on some websites shows the prices of used transmissions for your car. It is not new so you should not have to worry about putting in a used transmission. If the tranny has about 50,000miles then you should be okay.
