Tightening parking brake for 2001 GMC Jimmy

\015 I just recently bought a 2001 GMC Jimmy that needs a couple of minor things done in order to get an inspection sticker. One of which is adjusting my parking break. It seems simple enough, but is this an easy fix for someone like myself, who is not that good with car mechanics? Thanks everyone!\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 14-01-2019

Hi... to adjust rear brakes providing the shoes are good... just drive vehicle in reverse and pump brakes... rear shoes are self adjusting so they should "adjust" themselves... after doing this test by putting on park brake, put vehicle in drive and see if vehicle moves forward, repeat procedure if necessary. Hope this helps... please rate suggestion.... ty
Pull the rear wheels and inspect brakes first then does it have rear disc brakes if so pull caliper off and rotor because parking brake shoes are inside this check thickness and adjust with star wheel
