Having problems with your 2001 Honda Civic ?
Flickering charge light
\015 My charging light was flickering until one day the car did not start. I took it to a mechanic who replaced the alternator and said all should be good. Now about 6 months later the issue is back. At rpm drops between shifts or occasionally hitting bumps the light will flicker. It all seemed to happen after the timing belt was replaced. Could something have been knocked loose? The car has 140,000 plus of New England highway miles on it (aka high salt) Could there be a ground somewhere rotted out.\015
The reason why the charge light comes on when you hit bumps and stops when you accelerates is 1- your battery poles are loose or dirty best to replace instead of adjusting same time same hassle 2 when you accelerate your alternator takes over and the problem teporarely goes away... changed terminals cleaned poles with baking soda rinsed with water never happened again
My car started running like ****, gauzes on dash went to 0 and then would shoot back to where they should of been. parked car, shut it off and then it wouldnt start back up. jumped it and drove home- the whole time it bucked and spitted and wanted to stall. had the alternator replaced and then immediately the volt light started to flicker- i have left my lights on numerous times which contributed to my needing an alternator so i went and got a new battery. so far so good. it has only been a couple of weeks since all of this happened so it might be a little premature to think that it is solved. but for now it works!
