Parking brake adjustment

\015 Parking brake doesn't hold.\015\012\015\012I have a 2001 Hyundai Accent 1.6L. The hand brake feels like i works but i get no stopping power from it at all. \302\240The rear drums, shoes and hardware have just been replaced. The cable has been attached for the brake. The auto adjust mechanisms are greased and working. Can this cable be adjusted from the interior of the vehicle? What else can I check?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 17-09-2018

On the accents what you need to do is to remove the plastic casing from around the parking brake mechanism. Towards the back on each side there is a screw that needs to come out. Then you will just need to wiggle the plastic casing out and around from the parking brake and set it aside with the screws. Once that is off on the inside there will be what looks like one long (gold colored) screw and at the bottom there will be a mini cable running off to each side. At the end of the tension adjuster is where you adjust it. Mine was very loose and I had to tighten it down quite a bit. It takes a 12 MM wrench. You will want to turn the wrench toward the passenger side to tighten it down. Hope this works for you.
The parking brake is adjusted at the brake lever inside the car 10 mm nuts at the base of lever
