Having problems with your 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee ?

I just bought a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee and none of the electric windows work. I also noticed that when I test drove it the outside temp display was working, but when windows stopped working so did the outside temp display. I hadn't tried them before, but also notice the buttons on the back of the steering wheel for the cd/cassette player do not work either. The vehicle only has 75000 miles on it so I would expect things to still be working. The dealer I got it from had it all day yesterday t

It's going to be a fuse or relay, or more likely multiple fuses or relays. Check all fuses under dash and under hood before going to a JEEP dealership. Unfortunately for them, I would NOT buy from the dealer again when they can't fix something this simple for you shortly after buying it from them.

\015\012At autozone or NAPA, etc...buy a 'fuse test light'. It will be cheap and usually comes in a package of fuses for about $7.99. You'll want to check all fuses under the dash first because they're usually the ones that go out. Then check the fuses under the hood. The fuse box under the hood will also contain relays. It may be worth your money to buy a Chilton's or Haynes manual for your Grand Cherokee first. This way you'll greatly reduce the number of fuses to check and relays to replace.

\015\012The book may be $20 but will help a lot. $20 for the book and $7.99 for the test light and fuses + $30 if you have to buy 2 new relays would be less than $60. The diagnoses alone will be $60-$100 at JEEP, and this should be a simple fix with a little studying and effort on it.

\015\012Sorry to hear you're having these issues so soon after purchasing.

\015\012Note: My 2003 Mounaineer has ALWAYS had issues with the buttons on the steering wheel, and fixing it has been an enigma. However, the electric windows will be an easy fix and with any luck you can fix all the issues you're having with my tips above.
