Having problems with your 2001 Kia Sportage ?

2001 Kia sportage - rear driver wheel locks up randomly. Seems to happen most when I've backed up and put the brakes on, then going forward the rear wheel is seized solid! It happens randomly, and often times after being parked for a while it'll come out of it itself. I have only used the E brake ONCE in this vehicle - and I THINK this is when the issue started. Is there any way to manually adjust the E Brake?

Answers :

Remove the brake drum and check the brake shoes. I had a similar problem with my 99 Sportage. The brake shoe separated from the backing and was jamming the brake drum. A new set of brake shoes fixed the problem.
