Having problems with your 2001 Mitsubishi Diamante ?

01 Diamonte will start but not go into gear. Mechanic says needs new tranny, but could it be one of the sensors that I've been reading about malfunctioning. No fluid leakage and fluid clean no burning smell. Car had been running well, just made left turn onto road and it died.

Answers :

It may be a solenoid or more, but all these are located in the valvebody. The valvebody is internal and requires taking the trans apart, This is the reason why the mechanic recommends a new tranny or rebuilding it. Its also very possible the clutches are worn, in this case many little metallic particles can mess the entire valvebody up. Hopefully this helpd!!
