Having problems with your 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport 4WD ?

I seem to be losing oil between oil changes, but none is on the ground where parked. The oil pressure light has not remained on after starting. What could be the problem?

This particular vehicle is known for this problem not knocking your ride but all mitsubishi.s are eventual oil burners the local tv station in my town owns three 01 monteros and all smoke alot when idling for lengthy periods after idling you press accelerator and a huge plume of smoke before coming to me with problem they were talked into replacing valve guides and valve stem seals @ over a thousand dollars in parts and labor did not help at all the most help comes from running 20w50 motor oil with one quart being subsituted with lucas oil stabilizer this helps there vehicle tremendously very little if any smoke now and this was embarassing for them they will be replacing vehicles soon with new ones and will not be purchasing a mitsubishi in fact there sales has slumped in this town to the point the dealership has now closed down and nearest is one hour away
The only explanation is your engine is burning off the oil inside the engine block. There may be some kind of leakage. You can leave it the way it is but will have to keep and eye on your oil level every week or two.
