Having problems with your 2001 Nissan Maxima ?

Rattling sound 0-20 mph comes and goes, 6 disc cd changer skips

\015 I hope someone can give me some advice I would really appreciate it. I\015\012have a 2001 Nissan Maxima GLE I just recently purchased used with less\015\012than 30,000 miles on it. I really love it except recently I have had a\015\012few problems. First one is massive smoke that was coming out from the\015\012exhaust pipes when I start up usually when cold, but I think that was\015\012because I was wasn't using premium gas. The last fill up I bought the\015\012premium gas and didn't notice such extensive smoke. \015\012\015\012Second, I notice a rattling sound when I am stopped then accelerate on\015\012the gas ever so slightly. After I go over about 20 mph the rattling\015\012sound ceases. Then today my service engine soon light came on, on the\015\012way home. What could this be? \015\012\015\012Third, my 6 disc cd changer skips erractically. Does it need to be\015\012cleaned or something? Bought a brand new cd put it in there and plays\015\012ok the first couple of minutes then all of a sudden starts skipping\015\012like crazy on me. ????? Please help, thanks. \015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 27-06-2022

Howdy,
\015\012 the rattling sounds like its the hydrolic lifters (tappets or cam followers called also) not really a hard job just a pain cause you've to strip the engine to pieces to do. Its very time consuming so unless you've some experience i'd place this in the hands of an experienced mechanic. This should also stop the smoke problem.

\015\012The engine service light is on a timer from service to service so thats nothing to do with it.
\015\012
\015\012The cd player your right about it just need the lazer llens cleaned. You can buy a cd cleaner kit for cheap in any music/record store.

\015\012Hope this helps if not let me know and I'll try and find the solution

\015\012Cheers
