\015 Car is slow to pick up speed. Fuel filter and oil change completed. Repairman said it's the Catalytic converter and if I don't change it I could blow up my engine.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 20-01-2020

Get a new one and sell the old one. Some places will pay a lot of money for a used converter.
I had the same problem. I was told by my local dealership that my tranny was shot. After spending almost $1000 to replace the tranny, I found out that it was just the Cat being clogged. I have since replaced it and my car runs great. You can get 2 different types, an exact match or a universal one. I got a universal one for $89.66 (tax and all) at Autozone. I paid $50 to have it welded on. The exact match was around $180. If yiou drive it too much, it could cause some major damage due to the back-pressure from the clogged cat.
