Having problems with your 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche ?

ABS It seems like my ABS is kicking on when it's not needed. At low speed, almost a complete stop the brake pedal stiffens up and that ABS grind sound is heard. If I let off and re apply the brake I stop.

Sounds like a bad ABS sensor in the system. The quick fix is to locate the ABS fuse in your fuse panel, remove this fuse and abs is disabled. Your brake will function normal and it is safe to drive w/o abs until you can have it checked out, keep in mind you will lock you brakes under heavy braking conditions.

You have an abs sensor dropping out at low speeds which makes system see a wheel locking up,also if you have installed bigger tires you need to have abs reprogrammed as this amplifies the situation.
