Having problems with your 2002 Chevrolet Malibu ?

'02' Chevy Malibu loss of power

\015 I already went through the intake manifold replacement a few months back @35k miles. A few weeks back I'm getting on the freeway and I'm not accelerating. The gas pedal turned into a volume control. I could floor it and the engine would get louder but no increase in speed. I was trying to merge onto a CA freeway at 40 mph. Dangerous! I thought I might have gotten some bad gas. Emptied the tank and changed the fuel filter twice. Also put in a new EGR. I still have the problem. It seems to run OK for the first 5 min. then I lose power until the engine is fully warmed up. Even then my top speed is 70 mph.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 20-05-2019

Answers :

How it seems that your problem is in the tranmission. has the transmission ever had the fluid changed in it? if not then i would have it checked out and changed. it might even be a bad sensor causing the engine to free spin and not engage the transmission i would defently have the transmission checked out.
Was the intake manifold leaking coolant internally ?
why was it replaced ?
If so check cat. converter for blockage/restriction.
