Having problems with your 2002 Dodge Durango ?
I have a 2002 Dodge Durango and it has a fast idle, especially when the air conditioner is on. It idles fast and the rpm increase while in park and neutral especially. Sometimes while stopped, the throttle makes the car seem to lunge and I have to depress the brake more. It has began to really **** gas and I'm thinking it's because of the increased idle. Any suggestions?
This sounds like you have a (IAC) idle air control valve problem...... is the check engine light on? if it is have the engine scanned and see what codes are stored. it is normal however for the IAC not to set a code. there is a simple test you can do to find out if the IAC is sticking just unplug it and see if it changes the idle. if the idle remains the same replace the IAC. if not you have another problem.... you can also check for a vaccume leak you can identify this by listening for a moderate to distinct hissing if you find a hissing sound use a bottle of water and pour it on the area it should change the idle dramatically may even cut the engine off this will then be the cause of your fast idle.
Could be high temp sensor not functioning properly
