Having problems with your 2002 Ford Explorer ?

My power windows only work if I open fully my door (drivers door). What do I need to do to fix this? I don't want to break things & my books don't show me how to access or remove the door panels?

Hello Dave. From your description of the problem the first place I would look is the wires where they go to your door. Over time these wires are bent back and forth enough times they will break inside the insulation. When you open your door all the way it is pushing the broken wires back together. Seen this happen many times. It would be a good idea to undo the negative terminal of your battery just in case you short out an exposed wire here. Undo the rubber boot/grommet that covers the wires and push it through into the door or the body to expose the wires. Then tug them apart to find the broken wire. The insulation will stretch on the broken ones. You can then use a **** connector or solder in a new piece of wire depending on the condition of the old wires. If you need more help please ask me. KL
