Having problems with your 2002 Ford Explorer ?

Where is the radiator cap on a 2002 ford explorer? My car over heats when the air conditioner is on, the mechanic says that I have a cracked gasket and that when the air is on it goes into the gasket and causes the car to over heat. The car idles hard and then it over heats. i have checked the oil and it looks normal, i was told that if coolant was entering the gasket the oil would be grayish.

You probaly don't have a radiator cap, they're doing away with them, just the resevoir cap. If you have a blown head gasket or intake manifold gasket it would overheat all the time, not just when hte a/c is on. I might try another mechanic. have a pressure test done on the engine cooling system. this can tell you if you have any leaks. and yes if you get water in the oil it will turn grey after awhile. also watch to see if the oil is way over full on the stick. good luck
