Having problems with your 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 ?

Transmission or traction control problem?

\015 Hi,\012\012Recently my truck started doing some strange things and yesterday was really bad. First experience was, when my truck was sitting stopped on a small incline (nose up) when I tried to go and pressed the gas the truck acted almost as though the traction control fired. (its summer, on pavement and no gravel) I could feel the truck almost like the traction control when off and didn't turn the driving wheels, then it grabbed and took off.\012\012Yesterday was 10 times worse. I was on some grass, and I went to drive and the truck started a jerky motion with what feel like some hard shifting where it was almost as though the traction control was either grabbing really hard, or the transmission was slipping. \012\012I would think if it was the transmission the rev's of the truck would go up and the truck feel like it was going into neutral, but that wasn't happening. It was a very jerky forward motion where the truck the drive train was catching, then releasing, then catching again. It did that about 5 or 6 times within a 20ft distance. \012\012It's a two wheel drive truck. I did shut off the truck and come back about 30mins later, it reacted the same way once more but then acted normally. I drove it on the hwy right after that issue for about 50km through river valleys with no problems.\012\012I don't know what it could be, the transmission or or the traction control, or something else. No warning lights are lit up on the dash board. This is a fully loaded vehicle for that year, except its a 2w drive.\012\012thanks.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 10-12-2018
