2002 GMC Yukon XL flashing check engine lite

\015 I've taken it to a dealership, had a tuneup and coil packs checked. It still runs rough as can be with flashing check engine lite. I've been told codes read random engine misfire and since it has 218K miles it would be too costly and unwise to tear motor apart to find the problem. We've took it home and done a compression test, all seem to within 5-10 of each other. Any suggestions??\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 24-06-2019

Answers :

When the service engine\012soon light (Also called the check engine light) is turned on this is\012to alert you to the fact that Powertrain Control Module (computer)\012has detected a failure somewhere in the systems it controls, this can\012be the transmission or the engine or emission system, there are fault\012codes set in the modules memory for these faults. What needs to\012happen now is to have the powertrain control module scanned with a\012special tool called an OBD2 electronic engine control scanner or a\012OBD2 code reader. Once the code(s) are read then you must perform the\012diagnostics for each code and make the appropriate repairs based on\012the findings of the diagnosis that was performed, this is called\012doing "Pinpoint" testing.
