Having problems with your 2002 Kia Sedona ?

Steering is very stiff. I have bled the lines and replaced the fluid. Started doing it just now and then and now it does it all the time would it be my pump?

Answers :

Why did you replace the fluid? it could be the pump, but pressure needs to be checked. when you turn steering wheel all the way to the stop, it should whine somewhat. Make sure the belt is tight.
If you have bubbles in the power steering fluid the pump will be at fault. If not the rack & pinion is binding due to a tweak in the aluminum housing of the rack & pinion ... The rack and pinion is made of steel and the housing of aluminum. Aluminum will tweak a bit causing the stiffness when the car gets older. Also if the tires are very well worn the steering will be stiff too. Check for excessive tire wear before replacing the rack assembly
