Having problems with your 2002 Mazda Protege ?

I have a 97 Mazda Protege, that will not start past -10 degrees, even with the block heater plugged in. Also shakes when idling very rough idle. How can I check the block heater, mechanic told me circulating block heater won't fit 97 Mazda. Please help! Thankyou, Theresa

Answers :

Check spark plugs, maybe you got condensation in the wiring! also put the pedal to the floor and try turning the key (make sure car is in park ), almost like flooding the engine kinda! hope this helps , also u can buy an after market block heater! the mazda proteges are known for simple problems, but steady on prices!!
Have you checked the plugs and cords?
