Having problems with your 2002 Nissan Xterra ?

2002 Nissian xterra

\015 My 2002 Exterra was running perfect. Left it running while I ran in the post office with my 28 year old son inside. It died and he recranked it. THen when to wally world, cut it off, it cranked fine afterwards. Went to get gas, cut it off, and it would not start. lights, radio, turn signals all worked. Had 2 mechanics look at it.Disconnected the battery,to let it reset, all fuses were good, battery good, battery connections good, everything they could check on site was fine. Spent a week and a half trying to find someone with the know how to fix it. No luck. Still sitting at Walmart. Yeaterday went out there to get some aperwork out of it and just for the hell of it tried to crank it. It cranked!!!! Brought it home and so far.....it has cranked everytime. Any thoughts. Will this happen again? Is it safe to drive?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 12-04-2021

Answers :

It is safe to drive, the problem was that about the fuel maybe, it happens sometimes that the engine is unable to fire the gas, and then it gets to wet on the inside to fire any more, but as you saw, after a few time it will recover. try not to keep it much time in standgas
I ran into almost an identical problem and it turned out to be the maf ( mass air flow) sensor.Mine started like that but then began to bog at 2500 rpm in ever gear like a governor or something but it was just in nissan's saftey mode that limits the motor to prevent damage. pretty cheap on ebay, you could try a diagnostics test at a local parts store checker orielly and auto zone usually can do the test.
