Having problems with your 2002 Pontiac Firebird ?

What makes my 2002 Pontiac Firebird grind when driving and/or turning?

\015 When I am accelerating, driving awhile, or turning, my car makes a grinding sound. It is not constant, but it is more noticeable when the car has been on the road awhile like a road trip. I had the catalytic converter changed and had the rear assembly changed. A few years ago, the transmission was rebuilt-2007 maybe. What else can be causing this and what do I need to check or do to solve it? =)\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 14-01-2019

Answers :

Sounds like a wheel bearing. Jack up front end and spin wheels by hand and listen for grind. Same for rear wheels. Make sure brake linings are good all around. Do the swerve test. Drive down road bout 40mph and swerve moderately one side to other. If noise gets louder with weight shifted to one side more than other its most likely a wheel bearing.
