Having problems with your 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix ?

Rebuild All or just Fix Heads

\015 I need an opinoin. I recently blew a head gasket on my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix with 140,000 miles on it. Right until I then the car was giving me excellent peformance. I'm not sure if my lower block needs a re-build, but I think now might be a smart time to do it.\015\012\015\012My question is:\015\012Since I have to pull off the heads to fix my car anyway, is it a WISE thing to pull the rest of the engine out and re-build it, or a waste of money? It cost $1200 to do a complete rebuild, and about $600 just to fix the heads. This difference in cost means a lot, but I plan to keep this car.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 18-10-2021

Answers :

It is best to rebuild the whole thing, just the heads will put more pressure on the bottom end ,with that many miles and start leaks and could lead to bearings going out, it did happen to me in the past and a hard way to learn
