Ok this is what you do,unplug the two vaccum hoses at the back of the air filter box, pull up the air filter box, dont worry it wont break, give it a quick tug upwards on the four corners, now you can get enough room to change the directionals.NOTE: changing bulbs would not solve your problem because after a couple of weeks or so you will get that turn signal warning again, your best bet is to change the turn signal socket (its about $15.00) at the dealer.,you get the new socket and bulb all in one,do both sides if you can afford it because after a couple months the other side also goes.

Just twist the entire bulb connector (with bulb still intact) counter clockwise about 1/2 a turn and pull out- it should come out. You access this under the hood, and there may be a need to remove items blocking it. These connectors tend to break if older, the replacement part number is: W0133-1895431 for 2001 - 2004 models. Should cost about $13 at the dealer. I broke mine on my first attempt to remove it. Hard to twist, a little shot of WD 40 or silicoln can help.
