Sounds like your transmission may be bad. Also possible the fluid may be low. There is a dipstick under the hood for checking the fluid level. Take that out and see if it smells burnt. If the level is correct and it smells burnt then your transmission needs rebuilt/replaced
Start off trying fresh gearbox oil its the cheapest option. after a change or maybe two! if it persists take it to a gearbox specialist
