Having problems with your 2003 Buick Century ?

Draining of the rack and power steering

\015 I topped off the power steering fluid in May of my 2003 Buick Century that has 82,000 miles on it. Since then there is a noisy low moaning sound when turning 90 degree corners. Now I am wondering if the fluid was too old (it was in an old container that has been sitting around in the garage for a long time) or if possibly someone could have even put old brake fluid in that container. \015\012\015\012I have taken some of the dark fluid out and have put new in with a baster, but the noise persists. What is the best way to drain the rack and the power steering so I can get all of the old out of there and put new in?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 17-09-2018

Answers :

The best way is with a automotive suction gun (about $6), drain the reservoir and then refill until the fluid is clear, but from past years of many such noise concerns coming through the shop u will end up replacing the power steering pump.
