Having problems with your 2003 Buick Regal ?

The ignition key sometimes refuses to turn on, and it seems to be caused by the transmission not recognizing it is in park. Playing with the transmission shifter often results in a click which then allows the ignition key to turn. I am skilled in electrical tracing, so if I know which wiring harness leads the transmission microswitch connects to I can work a solution.

Answers :

There is a switch at the brake pedal. that keeps the car in park intill you hold the brake pedal and then shift. i dont know if that will help you any.p.s they also put a switch in so you can shift the car out of park if the automatic switch fails.
U are right, u need the linkage adjusted between the shifter and the column switch, U will have to have the car up in the air to do this, it takes 2 people.
