\015 I HAVE A 2003 CHVY SILVERADO WITH HE 5.3 V8. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED LAST YEAR APPROX 30,000 MILES AGO. THE ENGINE IS SLOWTO START LIKE IT IS NOT GETTING FUEL. SOMETIMES IT TAKES 2-3 TIMES CRANKING IT FOR IT TO START. IT SOMETIMES WILL START AND BE REAL SLUGGISH FOR 2-3 SECONDS BEFORE IDLEING UP TO NORMAL. THE YELLOW ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, AND HAS BEEN DUE TO AN EVAPORATION CANISTER BEING DIRTY AND THE SOLENOID NOT CLOSING - HENCE NO VACUUM. wOULD THIS CAUSE THE SLOW START, OR IS THE FUEL PUMP GOING OUT AGAIN?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 14-01-2019

Answers :

If there is little or no vacuum going to the engine at time of start up that will cause the engine to be hard starting, what it does is since theres not much vacuum if dumps crazy amounts of fuel into the cylinders to aid in starting, also would cause it to run funky for a few seconds after its started
