2003 impala losing fluid in radiator and getiing hot with no leaks
\015 My 2003 impala's temp gauge is bouncing all over the place and using coolant like crazy.I do not see any visable leaks anywhere.I fill it up and is fine for about a day til it uses a certain amount of fluid then the temp gauge in the car starts bouncing around from Hot to halfway to hot and so on.any idea's thx!\015
Depending on mileage, many of these motors develop a leak around the intake manifold gasket...the antifreeze leak usually burns off of the hot intake before you can spot it. Most motors are worth this repair...about $350. to $450. at your nearby shop. It is a good sign that the motor temperature stays cool when it has adequate coolant. You did not mention seeing any milky color on your oil check dipstick...that is a sign the head gasket is leaking...a much more costly repair...Your least costly repair could be a defective radiator cap...free pressure tests at you local parts store. Hope this helps.
