Having problems with your 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ?

Just replaced the fuel filter on a 2003 Silverado and it still won't start. How do you determine if the fuel pump is bad?

Answers :

Have someone lay under the truck next to the gas tank and listen while you turn the key to the ignition on position without cranking it. The pump should hum for two seconds when you first turn on the ignition.
You could try banging on the tank with a baseball bat, sometimes this wakes up the pump and it starts. If this works, replace the pump because it's not fixed.
You can turn the key forward and listen for the fuel pump to kick on. Also with all GM trucks more than likely the ground wire for the fuel pump rotted off or is not making good contact. You have to go under the truck and look near the gas tank and frame for a broke black wire.(if the truck has alot of miles on it like 90,000 plus change fuel pump)
