Having problems with your 2003 Dodge Durango ?

I have a hard clicking sound coming from the front left tire of my 2003 durango. The clicking occurs when turning in reverse and accelerating going straight. When I lifted the front left wheel I could turn it about four inches, but the drive shaft going back is also turning. At first I thought it might be the CV joint but could it be something else.

I have run into this same noise on a friend's son's 2003 Durango. It seems the left drive shaft is very loose on the stub shaft coming out of the front differential on the left side. A new shaft did not take out the slack and it still makes the noise. I noticed the left caliper was rather tight and maybe froze up and this may be compounding the problem.
If you can physically move the wheel (rim and tire) it will be caused by play in either the lower control arm or the steering bar, you'll want to get that checked out as if either blow up completely you'll lose total control of the vehicle.
I have an '02 durango with a little play in the right steering bar and plan on replacing that in a month or so
