Having problems with your 2003 Ford Focus ?

I own a 2003 ford focus and 4 months ago i asked ford when do i need to change the timing belt they say 100k but only last week i could here noises cuming from the timing cover so i went to ford and they said it needs changing my car only has 64k on the clock the ford technician said he has seen them go alot between 60 and 80k and my car was well looked after full ford ser his i think ford need to change there recommendations i got mine done straight away does anyone agree with that
