Yes. Overdrive helps get better milage in all vehicles. It is simply put, just an extra gear. When you go through 1st, then 2nd, 3rd, then OD (in automatic - 5th gear in manual)

\012All it does is allow the engine to run at lower speed while maintaining crusing speed. It does not have a lot of power, it's notsupposed to. It is to save fuel at higher speeds, particularly over distance travel..
